High
Tech Client Boosts Performance by 20% and Slashes Overhead 10%
Situation
An information technology division who serviced 600 employees was saddled
with an unmanageable number of projects resulting in a chronic time crunch and
much confusion about which projects took priority. Daily projects and
pressures created obstacles, and, as a consequence, staff ran in different
directions to get everything completed.
The department had two reporting structures which were comprised of
non-technical management who lacked the understanding and scope of
responsibility to service 600 people in two different divisions. Budget
cutbacks left the team with inadequate resources. A disaster recovery plan
was much needed, but the persistent time crunch prevented its development,
leaving the IT team spending too much time in crisis mode.
Elevated overhead costs resulted due to inefficiencies in time management and
inadequate systems and processes.
Solution
Champion Leaders worked with the IT client over the course of a year
beginning with a two-day planning retreat to define its annual plan, complete
with lessons from the past year. Our efforts focused on helping the client
create the champion mindset that would ensure a successful year, including the
most important priorities and initiatives. Monthly meetings took place to
maximize focus, create effective systems and processes and to address
fundamental issues that could possibly sabotage successful implementation.
Champion Leaders highlighted time management issues to create a lasting,
positive change in work habits. The monthly reviews ensured attention and
discipline to accountability and best actions to progress the plan.
Results
Champion Leaders' advice boosted team performance by 20 percent and
slashed overhead by 10 percent as a result of exemplary systems and
processes that established clear priorities, reduced crises, eliminated “fire
fighting” and maximized efficiency. In short, the client achieved 93 percent
of their annual goals as a result of a unified, dedicated team who genuinely
cared about each other, worked together to share the workload and offered more
direct and candid communication.
